The story ofTristan really reminded me of the story of Romeo and Juliet. Two lovers destined to fall in love but unable to be together for reasons beyond their control. It is the classic tragic tale of lovers who were separated from one another before they even met. I found myself surprised however, by the fact that unlike Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde did not leave everything they knew behind in a futile attempt to be together, rather, they decided to stay where they were and accept their lives for what they were, choosing honor over love because they felt it was the right thing to do. Although to many of us this may seem rather strange, it seems to make sense to me that they would choose honor over their love. It makes sense that they would choose to stay behind with everyone they know, and despite being required to hide their love Tristan and Isolde were able to find time to spend with one another.
